Help Build Barry’s Sleigh for the Future - and put your name on it!

Barry Round Table is calling on the local community to help create a brand new Santa Sleigh that’s fit for the future.

A fixture of the Barry Christmas calendar since 1972, the Sleigh brings festive magic to the streets of Barry whilst helping to raise vital funds for local groups, charities and projects.

However, the current sleigh is showing its age, having been rebuilt many times by its members. This year, the Round Table is launching a bold new project to build a sleigh that’s greener, safer and more magical than ever - but the support of the local community is needed to make it happen.

The group is working with local carpenters, mechanics, electricians and sound technicians to create a sleigh that’ll last for years to come, but the costs of materials and equipment to do so are expected to top £3,000.

With community at the heart of the Barry Santa Sleigh, supporters can have their name proudly fixed to the back of the new sleigh for just £30, becoming part of a cherished tradition that spreads joy across the town every December.

“This isn’t just a donation - it’s a legacy. Your name will ride alongside Santa for years to come, helping light up children’s faces and support local good causes. It’s truly something special,” said Barry Round Table Chairman Daniel Campbell.

“The Sleigh has become a beloved part of the town’s Christmas celebrations, with every pound raised through this campaign going directly towards building a sleigh fit for the future. Whether it's a child's name, family name, business or organisation, we’re looking to bring the Barry community together around this beloved tradition.”
